Poor lifestyle habits and disease

High fructose corn syrup is processed through the liver. It is more rapidly metabolized than glucose. This results in a build up in the liver, the organ that stores glucose for later usage. This build-up of fructose disturbs glucosemetabolism and leads to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. the liver also turns the excess fructose to triglycerides.
High triglycerides can cause high blood pressure, pancreatitis, and fatty liver disease which leads to non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. It causes insulin resistance and diabetes. It is important to keep check on your cholesterol level and, in particular, your triglyceride levels. Get a metabolic panel done regularly. if your triglyceride level is high, most likely you areconsuming too much high fructose corn syrup.Â
High fructose corn syrup is the main ingredient in soft drinks such as Pepsi, Coke, and Mountain Dew. It is also found in Gatorade and Sunny D. Check the labels on your drinks. This is especially important before buying drinks for your children. Type 2 diabetes in children, virtually unheard of in years past, is on the rise. For all our progress, our children are unhealthier than ever because of a diet of processed foods and snacks, an overabundance of high fructose laden drinks, and a sedentary lifestyle.
