Proper lifting techniques

As I mentioned in the last article you should always use proper lifting techniques. I thought I might list what those techniques are.

  1. Plan the lift carefullly and get help if you need it. Don’t try to be strongman.
  2. Place feet shoulder width apart. this provides a stable base.
  3. Keep the object close to your body. This increases stability so that you are not having to continuously reposition increasing your likelihood of injury.
  4. Tighten your stomach muscles. This helps to support your back.
  5. Lift with your legs. Leg muscles are much stronger than back muscles.____________________________________________
